1-day wildlife tour in Kaeng Krachan national park

Tour description in short

Location of Kaeng Krachan national park on the map of Thailand

Our 1-day tour in Kaeng Krachan national park consists of a full day of wildlife watching on foot and by car.

Why our day trip?

To fully appreciate Thailand's largest national park you should definitely spend more time than just one day. But a day trip in Kaeng Krachan is still better than not visiting the park at all.

The park has a wide range of animals. Though it is not the easiest place to see wildlife. Still, being out in the wild is a great experience one should not miss.

Our day tour is a great way to find out you should plan for a few more days on your next trip in Thailand to visit this amazing national park ;-).

Kaeng Krachan lies only three hours away from Bangkok, and only one hour from Hua Hin. A place definitely worth checking out!

Tour itinerary

Here follows the itinerary of our one-day tour in Kaeng Krachan national park.
Note: Often enough, our itineraries get turned upside down. It is impossible to plan in nature; the wildlife does not follow timetables, therefore the following itinerary is just a rough example.

Day 1 (06:00 to ±18:00 - 19:00)

After pick up at your hotel, we enter the national park and start with a slow drive looking for wildlife along the way. We might stop at some open forest clearings or ponds to look for birdlife and other creatures. And next we continue on foot to listen and scan for any animals that occur in the jungle.

Dusky Langur in a fruiting fig tree in Kaeng Krachan
Fruiting fig trees are like an open buffet for the animals in the forest. The Dusky Langur is a common sight on our tours in Kaeng Krachan national park.

We have lunch at the park restaurant. Even around there you might see interesting birdlife or more.

In the afternoon we walk on a dirt road through tall forest along a stream which offers good views into the canopy. This area is rich in bird species, but there is also chance to see mammals and other critters.

Oriental Pied Hornbill male in flight in Kaeng Krachan
Oriental Pied Hornbill male in flight in Kaeng Krachan. A commonly seen species on our Kaeng Krachan tours.

The late afternoon, we spend in the form of a safari drive. We explore waterholes, and the forest edges along the road where hopefully we will see some more species, before we eventually leave the park and drop you off at your hotel or meet your taxi to your next destination.

We just arrived back in Germany and wanted to say thank you again! 🙂 We enjoyed the wildlife tour with our guide "Mong" so much and it will stay an awesome memory for us. We had a great drive and walk through the National Park Kaeng Krachan and had so many great sightings that day. Highlight: Two leopards and a panther! Best regards, Isabelle & Jan

It is interesting that we usually try to avoid busy holidays, because we are worried it may affect the chances to see wildlife. The day you visited was Father's/King's day which meant that long weekend there were a LOT of cars/people in the park. And despite all those people driving/walking around, you somehow managed to see the black and two spotted leopards together (as well as a Sun Bear and a number of other species). Pretty amazing.

Thank you for booking with us!
